Two ways to keep your door
A door-mounted bin hangs on the inside of the cupboard door, so it swings out as the door opens. A base-fixed bin sits on the cabinet floor and slides out on its own runners behind the door. Neither needs a pull-out door front, so they suit an existing kitchen.
Door-mounted bins
Our door-mounted bins hold 12 to 16 litres: small enough to hang on the door and clear the pipes under a sink, and handy for food waste or recycling beside a bigger bin. Each needs a 400mm to 500mm unit.
Bins that fix to the cabinet floor
For more room, a base-fixed bin holds 16 to 70 litres in one to three compartments. 6 of the bins here come out automatically as you open the door; the rest you pull out by hand.
Check the space
Measure inside the cupboard: the width between the side panels, the depth, and the height to the shelf or worktop. Leave room for the hinges and any shelf, and for pipes if it is a sink unit. Each bin’s page lists its own sizes.

What is a door-mounted bin?
A small kitchen bin that fixes to the inside of a cupboard door, so it comes out to you when you open the door and stays hidden when it is shut.
Can I fit a bin to my existing cupboard door?
Yes. Door-mounted and base-fixed bins work with the hinged door you already have, so nothing on the front of the kitchen changes. Check the inside width, depth and height first.
Do I need a pull-out door for a kitchen bin?
No. Pull-out bins need the door fixed to the bin frame, but the bins on this page work behind an ordinary hinged door.
How big is a door-mounted bin?
Ours hold 12 to 16 litres. For a bigger bin behind a hinged door, a base-fixed bin holds up to 70 litres.
Will a door bin fit under my sink?
