Buying guide

Choosing a base unit pull-out.

Why pull-outs in a base unit?

A shelf in a base cupboard means kneeling down and reaching to the back. A pull-out brings the shelves out to you on runners, so bottles, tins, cleaning products and trays are easy to see and reach.

Narrow units: 150mm and 300mm

Narrow base units suit a pull-out best. 150mm pull-outs fit beside a cooker for oils and spices; 300mm units take Kesseböhmer Dispensa Junior or K-Line, Blum SPACE TWIN with shelves on both sides, or the Vauth-Sagel VS SUB Larder.

Wider units: 400mm to 600mm

Dispensa Junior comes in 400mm, 500mm and 600mm too. For a 600mm unit there are pull-out chrome trays, adjustable baskets, a Turnmotion rotating shelf and pull-out or fold-away tables.

Under the units

The plinth is storage too. Blum SPACE STEP turns a 150mm to 250mm high plinth into a pull-out step for reaching high wall units, and the Peka Stepolo folds out of the plinth.

Measure inside the cabinet

Each pull-out is made for a cabinet width and needs a minimum inside depth and height. A cabinet is usually about 36mm narrower inside than its width, so measure inside before you order.

Soft close and push-to-open

Blum SPACE TWIN, LEGRABOX and Peka Pinello pull-outs close softly, and Pinello and Kesseböhmer’s push-to-open fittings suit handleless kitchens.

Before you buy.

What pull-outs fit a 300mm base unit?

Kesseböhmer Dispensa Junior and K-Line, Blum SPACE TWIN, the Vauth-Sagel VS SUB Larder and Peka Pinello are all made for 300mm base units. Each range lists the exact cabinet it fits.

Can I add a pull-out to my existing base unit?

Often, yes, if the unit is the right width and the inside depth and height suit the pull-out. Take out the shelf, measure inside and send us the sizes if you are not sure.

What is a plinth step?

A step hidden in the plinth under a base unit. Blum SPACE STEP pulls out like a drawer for plinths 150mm to 250mm high, and the Peka Stepolo folds out, so you can reach the top of your wall units.

Can I have a pull-out table in a base unit?

Yes. Kesseböhmer’s pull-out table top pulls out of a 600mm unit and holds up to 30kg, and the Chef’s Table and TopSwing mechanisms give a fold-away table.

What goes in a 150mm base unit?
